Welcome to Mansoura University Vertebrate Paleontology Center (MUVP)
Founded in 2010 by Professor Hesham Sallam, the Mansoura University Vertebrate Paleontology Center (MUVP) was established to advance vertebrate paleontology in Egypt and build national expertise in the field. Through fossil discoveries and research, the Center brings together researchers, students, and international collaborators to explore Earth’s ancient life.

MUVP for Egypt (or MUVP’s Impact in Egypt)
Through specialist training and public engagement, MUVP strengthens Egypt’s capacity in vertebrate paleontology, promotes appreciation of the country’s fossil heritage, and inspires the next generation of Egyptian paleontologists.
Research at MUVP
MUVP is a leading center for vertebrate paleontology in Egypt, with field research covering more than 18 localities across the country and fossil-bearing deposits ranging from the Cretaceous to the Miocene. The Center investigates vertebrate evolution and ancient ecosystems in collaboration with researchers in Egypt and around the world.
World-class facilities for fossil science.
MUVP’s facilities support the preparation, curation, documentation, and preservation of fossil specimens. The Center’s work spans three dedicated areas: a fossil preparation laboratory, a collections management and digitization area, and a specimen storage area. These facilities support the long-term preservation of scientific collections and their use in research and training.
