Matt Friedman received his B.S. in biology and geology from University of Rochester (2002), his M.Phil. in zoology from Cambridge (2004), and his Ph.D. in evolutionary biology from University of Chicago (2009). From 2009 to 2016, he was a lecturer, associate professor, and professor at Oxford. His research draws on clues locked in anatomy, genomes, and the fossil record to document the evolutionary assembly of modern vertebrate biodiversity.
