Sanaa El-Sayed has been part of the first Diversity in Paleontology Luncheon at the Annual Meeting of the Society of Vertebrate Paleontology on 17 October 2018 where she was hosting a round table discussion about "Present Challenges and Future Prospects for Egyptian Women in Vertebrate Paleontology"
This series of round table discussions highlighted the successes of paleontologists from underrepresented groups and addressed some of the challenges specific to these groups. These discussions also provided suggestions for paleontologists interested in creating a more inclusive intellectual community for their colleagues who belong to underrepresented groups. This luncheon was for paleontologists who belong to underrepresented groups AND those who sought to understand and support our diverse colleagues at the conference, in the field, in the classroom, online, and in the media, regardless of their career stage or background
